Digitalisation has transformed patterns of communication, relationships, participation and the life of faith communities, but technological connectivity does not always foster a deep sense of fellowship within the congregation. The development of digital spaces also has the potential to reinforce fragmentation, individualism, a spectator culture and a focus on popularity, which can displace Christ from the centre of community life. Romans 12:4–5 offers a theological foundation for understanding the congregation as one body in Christ, characterised by diversity in its members, functions, relationships and mutual responsibilities. This study aims to analyse the Christology of digitalisation in Paul’s theology, based on Romans 12:4–5, with a view to the formation of the congregation as a faith community. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method through the analysis of the text of Romans 12:4–5 and literature on Christology, ecclesiology, and digital theology. The findings indicate that Christ is the centre of the digital community’s identity, relationships, diversity, and participation. The research also highlights the importance of mutuality and Christological participation as the praxis of the body of Christ. In conclusion, the digitalisation of the church must be directed towards strengthening Christ-centred fellowship. The novelty of this research lies in the reconstruction of a digital faith community based on the Body of Christ. This model integrates Christology, relationships, diversity, participation and digital praxis.
Abstrak
Digitalisasi telah mengubah pola komunikasi, relasi, partisipasi, dan kehidupan komunitas iman, tetapi konektivitas teknologi tidak selalu menghasilkan kedalaman persekutuan jemaat. Perkembangan ruang digital juga berpotensi memperkuat fragmentasi, individualisme, budaya penonton, serta orientasi popularitas yang dapat menggeser Kristus dari pusat kehidupan komunitas. Roma 12:4-5 menawarkan fondasi teologis untuk memahami jemaat sebagai satu tubuh di dalam Kristus yang memiliki keberagaman anggota, fungsi, relasi, dan tanggung jawab mutual. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis digitalisasi Kristologi dalam teologi Paulus berdasarkan Roma 12:4-5 bagi pembentukan komunitas iman jemaat. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi pustaka melalui analisis teks Roma 12:4-5 dan literatur Kristologi, ekklesiologi, serta teologi digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kristus menjadi pusat identitas, relasi, keberagaman, dan partisipasi komunitas digital. Penelitian juga menemukan pentingnya mutualitas dan partisipasi Kristologis sebagai praksis tubuh Kristus. Kesimpulannya, digitalisasi gereja perlu diarahkan pada penguatan persekutuan berpusatkan Kristus. Kebaruan penelitian terletak pada rekonstruksi komunitas iman digital berbasis tubuh Kristus. Model ini mengintegrasikan Kristologi, relasi, keberagaman, partisipasi, dan praksis digital.
